Hey All
Cianne and I finally had a great block of filming done today!!!!
Here was my morning:
- Woke up at 6am
- Finished the script for certain scenes
- Made breakfast...ended up stuffing it into my bag haha
- Picked up two of our lovely actors on my way to Half Moon Bay Marina for our day shoot
- Meet Cianne and Josh who plays our mysterious Rueben
- Walk to tunnel on one of the walkways (which we found out was near fruit trees-that was morning tea taken care of! *Grin*)
So today was about filming THREE important scenes for our film (although every scene is important)
- The ending scene shot in the tunnel, allows us to play with dramatic lighting and create silhouettes with the characters. Also the echo in the tunnel was great for our camera picking up sounds except the wind-we need to some how figure out how to prevent that as much as possible............. After thought: even shielding it might do the trick.
- The Dream Scene where Rueben is dreaming of being in the same location as the last scene *TUNNEL* with Brooke.
- Scene after the party where they officially meet, when Brooke asks him for help. This is at a factory where Rueben works (credit to http://www.hiretown.co.nz/ (hiretown-family biz).
The costumes turned out amazing: Josh brought a waist coat, fancy shoes and wearing black
Calvin (who plays Jonathan) wore dark clothes which pretty much was what we wanted him to wear.
Caitlin (Brooke) wore heels which sound amazing in that tunnel, leggings and a black shirt and with the wast coat Cianne brought she looks amazing and like a femme fetal, photos shall be up soon. i got to say we had a bit of a photo shoot haha.
Cianne and I both had turns at the jobs to be done, I worked with Caitlin to help make her fall when Brooke dies look a little less fake (it still needs work-I'm firm but honest) Cianne worked with the guys, explaining the scene, how it should look, where people are. Both of us worked together with shooting the scene. THIS TIME WE DID NOT TALK DURING FILM-because cutting out sound cuts out natural noises too-beginner film makers take note!
Brooke's costume for the dream scene looked so good, but I'm thinking we might need to do it again, we'll have to see how it goes in editing.
Then we all got lifts to Hiretown in Howick where we shot the scene when Brooke meets Rueben at work and they discuss who could be behind the letters she has been sent. I will post the synopsis of our film up at a later date. Plus script if anyone wants to read it, it's not really professional since we don't have time to spend on superb techniques-we take what we can get, then perfect it later.
Another tip for beginner film makers: per-production is SOOOOO IMPORTANT!
This is the time where you make plans on exactly what you will do and how, test run it with a few shots with editing and change anything that doesn't work. Look at your timelines and your actor's timelines and work it out.
The filming at Hiretown was interesting, it was the longest, hardest scene because of the dialogue. Cianne and I both played around with the camera. I shot some opening shots to the scene and Brooke walking in, looking edgy and Femme Fetal-ish. However even now I think we need to re film and pre-plan the scene when we film Rueben and Brooke sitting together, I want the angles to look natural yet impressive too.
Camera battery died so we went to Josh's work to charge it, keep warm and practice lines.
We got back to filming, got a few more shots then it started raining and the battery died AGAIN so we will re-shoot the scene.
Planning to film with Josh in his room for his end of the call scene on Thursday!
PROGRESS!!!
So now it is editing what we have got.
By the way-we have got a book with storyboards, location planning, character analysis all of that so we have planned out film.
